Dr. Zachary Johnson Zachary is a young classical guitarist whose talent
has already been recognized with numerous awards. He has performed in venues across the United States for recitals,
competitions, and festivals. He has performed most recently in venues such as Yale Sprague Memorial Hall, New England
Conservatory’s Jordan Hall, Northeastern University’s Fenway Center, San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s
Recital Hall, and as a selected performer for the Stetson International Guitar Festival. Aside from his performing career, Dr. Johnson is also an active teacher.
He has served as a visiting adjunct professor at Florida State University and adjunct professor of guitar at Tallahassee
Community College. He has taught masterclasses at Syracuse University, Brevard Community College, and Bainbridge College.
He also served as head guitar teacher at the Thomasville Road Academy of the Arts and Mason’s School of Music.
He is currently the Artistic Director at Florida Enrichment Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Zachary has been the recipient of full scholarships to Yale University, Stetson
University, and Florida State University. He has studied at these universities with the renowned teachers Benjamin
Verdery, Dr. Stephen Robinson, and Bruce Holzman. After receiving his Bachelors from Stetson University, he would
go on to receive his Masters from Yale University. Zachary has recently received his Doctorate of Music from Florida
State University, where he was selected as a Teachers Assistant to Mr. Holzman. Zachary has also performed and studied in masterclasses with many esteemed guitarists. He has traveled to
Italy to study with Andres Segovia’s protégé, Oscar Ghiglia, at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena.
He was also selected to be one of six guitarists in the state of Connecticut to perform in a masterclass for John Williams,
arguably the most celebrated living guitarist. |
